The Rosa Parks Farmers Market brings fresh, affordable vegetables, fruits, and other goods to the communities of Beatties Ford Road, the Historic West End, and the Greater West Charlotte area. We welcome all in the ‘Spirit of Rosa Parks’! May you do your part in transforming lives through education.

The Rosa Parks Farmers Market was established by co-founders, the Rosa Parks Farmers Market Community Advisory Council, established 2015, and the Mecklenburg County Public Health Department of Charlotte, NC. It was named in honor of our beloved Ancestor Rosa Parks. It began its first operation on Tuesday, June 7, 2016. The Grand Opening was on Tuesday, June 21, 2016 which included the Blessing and cutting of the ribbon by Sheila McCauley-Keys, niece of Rosa Parks, et al! It’s an educational, transformative farmers market not merely transactional. We understand the value of education as the key to healthy living.

About Rosa Parks

Rosa Parks was a civil rights activist who refused to surrender her seat to a white passenger on a segregated bus in Montgomery, Alabama. Her defiance sparked the Montgomery Bus Boycott. Her defiance launched nationwide efforts to end racial segregation of public facilities, and sparked many community movements.
